Have you ever used Active Virus Shield? It's a free anti-virus program. If you have, what do you think of itnorton
AOL...those three letters should send you screaming in the other direction.
There are plenty of other free anti-virus programs available, the most notable of the bunch is AVG and Avast, Personally, I like the free version of Bitdefender, but as this program offers no real time protection (scan only) its not for everyone....
Here is a listing for the most popular free AV's complete with reviews;

anyone of them will do the job, esp. combined with a good freeware firewall such as ZoneAlarm. In fact Avast and AVG frequently outperform Norton in detection tests, with like 75% less system resource comsumption of Symantecs bloatware.

It's Kaspersky antivirus but it only scans files and local e-mails. It doesn't do network traffic monitoring, no P2P tranfser protection, no bots/spyware detection... It's the best for scanning files and e-mails, but as a fully featured antivirus product it lacks many features.
give it a miss if I were you the site look very dodgy to me it's asking for email addresses and wanting to install it direct from the site that sort of thing sets alarm bells ringing, why don't you get tried and tested AVG anti virus with no strings attached from here http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl...
Contrary to what one uninformed poster stated, you do not have to install it from the web site. You may download it and install it at your leisure. They require your email address in order to email you a registration code for installation.
