Why doesn't AT&T Yahoo support Firefox?

My ISP is AT%26T Yahoo. They will give you the entire Norton security suite, firewall,antivirus,antispyware, for free just because you are a customer. But they don't support Firefox! What don't they understand. This is a very popular browser %26 safer than IE, but I can't use Norton because AT%26T are behind the times.

Forensic, Firefox is indeed safer than IE. The main reason is that IE is targeted more. However, the other is that IE is the default shell for windows explorer in general. So when IE is compromised your entire windows install is. Firefox is a separate entity from the rest of the install, so if Firefox gets infected, only Firefox needs fixing. IE usually, from what i've found, gets browser helper objects that attach itself to IE, and so windows in general. This usually results in the browser helper object having full access, again where Firefox would be fine.

It is not that the code of Firefox is cleaner and more safe, in fact its probably worse than IE. However, it is Firefox's separation from windows, as opposed to IE's integration, that make it safer. That, and i have yet to get a direct infection from Firefox.

Of course, nothing from a browser perspective, will protect you from trojan downloaders, spyware, and virus's that spread by the user downloading and/or installing random things.

I had the free version of Panda Antivirus and now I've installed Avast Antivirus. Now I'm trying to delete Panda but I can't do it because the system says I've got a virus in one of the Panda files! The error code is Error Code: %26lt;-5006 : 0x80070002%26gt;

Delete both Antivirus products first. Than try to install the product you wish to use.

I have had Panda and I do not think it is "well reputed" It is one step away from being a virus itself and will constantly send nagging email about buying new packages from them.

Have you tried "delete software" with its uninstall under Control settings? Have you tried going to the directory Panda is in and deleting any files you see there? Have you tried calling Avast Antivirus on their help line and telling them that their software is failing to get rid of a virus?

Also, Can you let me know which antivirus works properly like Mcafee in vista. If any antivirus exists other than Mcafee then is there any free trial of that antivirus?

microsoft Vista isnt that good to be honest they have changed everything around and it takes ages to find all the stuff you want. it also crashes really easy. norton anit virus and mcafee works very good on vista there is also a good one to use avg anit virus program, i will give you the link to that later

NO antiviruses last time I checked worked 100% properly in windows vista using default settings.

Incompatibilities.... everywhere, CD Burning software, antivirus, system tools, drivers, you name it most of it is broken on windows vista...

Even things that say "MADE FOR VISTA" and come bundled with the machine have had incompatibities... Printers come to mind... when they replicate and install thousands of copies of themselves.
Heaps of bugs. If you haven't purchased it already don't! Wait till at least Service Pack 1 is released.

Please can someone help me. The internet/ Firefox keeps on closing and im getting a message from a site called: xpantivirus.com telling me that it has detected the following 3:

1) spyware.IEMoster.b/spyware/criticallevel

2) zlob.PornAdvertiser.xplisit/highlevel

3) Trojan.infostealer.Banker.s/Medium level

I haven't been on any unusual site. i can use the internet, but its slow, it only closes down occasionally.

Is AUTOPLAY.EXE a Trojan Horse Generic4.BO?

My free version of AVG antivirus software says that it is.....but my Norton AV doesn't find it when I do a complete system scan (2.0 + hours).

If it's a trojan horse, how do I get rid of it? I just found it today with AVG Free Edition.

Is this virus (assuming it's a virus) dangerous?

I'd like to get rid of it just in case it is a dangerous/nasty virus.

Please help me get rid of this thing. It's on my C drive under "Documents and Settings".

usually, autoplay.exe is not a virus. It is a necessary file (on many cd's) that give the command to automatically play when inserted into the cd-rom drive.

many other files use this type of command as well

However that being said:

Some malware camouflage themselves as AutoPlay.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder.

You should not usually have autoplay.exe in those folders. if you do, it may be malware (spyware, trojan, etc).
